- Tech Notes: Vehicle had .4lb of Freeon in system (capacity is 1.1lb), Recharged system with Dye and found a leak coming from High Port Valve Core. Replaced Valve Core and allowed vehicle time to cycle the a/c system, found the clutch on the compressor is binding up intermittently during each cycle causing the vehicle to lose cooling and turn warm. Replaced the Compressor and test drove vehicle. during the test drive the a/c stopped working. brought the vehicle back in and pressure tested the system the low side was reading 100 psi ( should be 20 – 40 psi) Inspected Condenser for a potential clog. Condenser passed. removed dessicant filter and discovered it was full of debris. replaced with new Dessicant Filter and replaced expansion valve. Retested system and is now cooling as it should be.
